Sales of cookbooks commemorating the church's 125 years in 2021, were completed in 2015, sold at West Acres in Fargo (2013), Moorhead Center Mall (2014 & 2015) and locally. An enjoyable project!
Each year one or more persons is/are recognized for outstanding volunteer service to the church and/or women of the church. Because the 2015 Special Mission Recognition was very special, we wish to tell you about it now.
Our honorees, the JIRAK FAMILY, included James & Marlene, who joined the church in 1955, two sons who joined in 1969, another in 1973 and one in 1976, a daughter in 1979, and many extended family members joining in more recent years. The family received a plaque and $40 was given to missions in their honor.
Individual members of the JIRAK FAMILY have served on trustees, church council, finance, youth council, nominations, and have also participated in the cantata, women's Bible study, mentoring for confirmation, and as a church pianist. Also, Marlene (who join UMW in 1992) furnished twelve sweet cream raisin pies for the bazaar each year for many years. As a family, they have provided lawn care for the churhc, extra dirt for landscaping, and have done any major outside work that needed to be done.
We congratulated Jim & Marlene (both now deceased), Tim & Robin, Tom & Cindy, Gary (Butch) & Corinne, (Jerry) Dean & Kim, and Michelle (Mickie) & Kelly Klosterman, and their families for the many years of faithful service to Breckenridge United Methodist Church.
Nearly 100 persons have been recognized since the project began in 1965 and concluded in 2017. Yes indeed, VOLUNTEERISM definitely has been and is a mainstay of this church!
